BLOCKBUSTER SEQUEL WYRMWOOD: APOCALYPSE TO SCREEN AT SYDNEY SCIENCE FICTION FILM FESTIVAL.

By popular demand, director Kiah Roache-Turner's spectacularly splattery Wyrmwood: Apocalypse will screen at the Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival on Saturday November 13 from 6.00pm at the Actors Centre Australia.

In a deal struck between distributor StudioCanal, producer Blake Northfield's Bronte Pictures and Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival director Simon Foster, a session of the sequel to the 2014 cult blockbuster Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead was confirmed after two screenings at the Sydney Film Festival sold-out in days.

“We are incredibly proud and excited to be a part of the Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival this year with Wyrmwood Apocalypse,” said director Kiah Roache-Turner, who co-wrote the film with his brother and creative partner, Tristan. “To be able to screen this insane, eye-ball melting, meat grinder of a film in front of the EXACT people we made it for is the kind of pleasure us filmmakers live for!”

The Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival screening will indeed be a fan-focussed, cosplay-encouraged event. Attending along with The Roache-Turner brothers will be an array of cast and crew personalities, including some of the film’s more unsavoury undead protagonists..

When the opportunity to have the highly-anticipated Aussie genre epic as a festival centrepiece, Foster snapped it up. “We’d not normally screen a film that had premiered so festival-adjacent,” he says, “but there is nothing ‘normal’ about the fan fervour for the Wyrmwood franchise. We are honoured to have Kiah and his team as guests of the fest and can’t wait to unleash the zombie hordes on our patrons.”
